What should I bring?

What should I bring?

  • Sunscreen / sun block: our game drive vehicles are open and have a canvas roof. We advise all guests carry their own sunscreen as temperatures normally rise around 9:00am and last through late afternoon.

  • Insect repellent: we provide our guests with a mosquito repellent while they are out on activities and also in your tent(s). If you have allergies or have medically-prescribed repellents, we strongly advise that you bring your own insect repellent.

  • Clothing: We recommend neutral colors to blend in - khaki, brown, etc. Complimentary laundry is done at camp as part of your trip, so there is no need to over pack.

    • Winter Months: June, July and August. Bring warm jackets as temperatures can drop below 0 degrees in the morning and evenings. African Culture Journeys will provide guests with hot water bottles in their rooms & blankets during their journey.

    • Summer Months: September, October, November. Bring light clothing with long sleeves for mosquitoes and also bring a jacket as some days the temperatures can drop dramatically.

    • Rainy Season: End of November, December, January, February, March. Bring a raincoat.

  • Personal Medication: When traveling to any foreign destination, we strongly suggest that you check with your personal physician, local immunization authority or public health facility to find out what immunizations and/or medications are required/suggested for your travels. Botswana is considered a malarial area, and preventative medications can be taken. Please consult with your doctor before leaving on your trip as we are not able to legally provide guests with this or any medication. You should also plan to bring any personal over-the-counter or prescription medications you may need.

All clients should consult with their local medical doctor, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or their National Health Authority regarding the use of anti-malarial tablets prior to departure.

  • TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

    • International flights tickets (physical or phone)

    • Travel insurance

    • Passport with appropriate visas for specific countries you are visiting. Please be sure to have enough pages for stamps as most countries can be very strict.

    • Customs registration – this is sometimes needed for cameras, laptops, etc.

  • Binoculars: We would love to advise all guests that travel with Africa Culture Journeys, especially keen birder watchers, to bring your own pair of binoculars. Some of the bird sightings will be in areas we cannot off-road, like in wet flood plains or in National Parks/ Game Reserves, so it will be ideal to carry your own binoculars so that you can fully enjoy your sightings. A communal pair of binoculars may be available on your journey.

  • Digital Camera & memory cards: We advise all our guests to bring their own camera equipment in order to capture their unique safari experience. Rest assured, our guides will strive to position the vehicle for good lighting and angles in order for you to film the wildlife.
