Tell me more about the animals.
Are different animals present during different seasons?
PREDATORS (CATS) animals like Lions, leopards, Hyenas are territorial species meaning they occupy a certain area which they protect against other lions for example. A pride can dominate one area for up to four years or even more depending on the competition from other prides. In short the chances of seeing prepators are high since they occur one area for a long time.
HERBIVORES (Elephants, buffaloes, impalas, zebras, giraffes, hippos etc) most of the herbivores are home rangers meaning they are in the Okavango delta all year around but are constantly on the move looking for feeding grounds with reliable water sources. Some animals like hippos are territorial and will occupy a certain body of water for years and the chances of seeing this animals are high.
Though no one can guarantee a particular sighting, Africa Culture Journeys has well experienced, trained, professional guides who can track and search for animals
How dangerous are the animals?
Your safety is always our top priority. Any time you are in the wilderness there is potential to encounter dangerous animals. But for the most part, local animals have become accustomed to tents, camps and vehicles and appear at ease around them. Also:
The GOLDEN RULE in the wilderness is to respect the animals and view them at a comfortable distance. All activities are led by well trained professional guides, who are conservationist at heart.
Most animals view groups as one unity as they cannot see individuals in the vehicle. Primates like baboons and monkeys are an exception to this.
Every safari operator has rules that the guides and guests must adhere while on safari. Some of these rules include:
No standing at a sighting
We minimize our voices at sightings
We don’t make sounds to draw the attention of the animal to the vehicle
We give animals space so that they can proceed with their normal life
Wear neutral colors so that we blend in with the environment
No littering
